II. Research Staff

1. Director: Zhang Weiqiang

Zhang Weiqiang, male, born in January 1964, Professor, doctoral graduate of Tsinghua University, the head of the graduate program of Tourism Management, which belong to the first level discipline of Business Management, is now the Director of the Academy. He has twice won the second prize of the Guangdong Science and Technology Award and the third prize. Furthermore, he was awarded one Guangdong Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Excellent Achievement prize and six bureau-level scientific research awards. He published 4 Monographs, 2 electronic books and more than 80 papers. Besides, he holds many social positions. He was appointed the tourism development consultant for many cities and counties in Guangdong, such as Meizhou, Heyuan, Jiangmen, Yunfu, Kaiping, Heping, Nan'Ao and Zhanjiang. He was often invited to serve as the judge in the finals of the national or provincial tour guide contests by the organizing committee.  
As a senior tourism expert, his academic viewpoints were reported in the key journal, such as Nanfang Daily, Ta Kung Pao, and networks, such as Xinhua Network, People Network, China Network, Nanfang Network. He was invited as the keynote speaker in various kinds of tourism forums and conferences.

2. Liu Shaohe

Liu Shaohe, male, born in January, 1970 in Yong Zhou, Hunan, is a Professor of Tourism Management and now is also a PhD candidate of Tourism Management at Jinan University. His research is focused on Tourism Planning and Strategic Management, Optimization and Improvement of the Tourism Industry, Tourism Brand Marketing Communication and Community Building. Since June 2001, professor Liu has published over more than 40 academic papers in core journals as the first author, including Tourism Tribune, Areal Research and Development, Thinking, Social Scientist, Tropical Geography Journal of Guilin Institute of Tourism, etc. He is the deputy editor of two teaching materials that were enrolled into the 11th Five-Year planning materials in 2007 and 2008 and edited 5 teaching materials. He participated in one national project, two provincial projects and one municipal project, and presided over one national project, one provincial project, as well as 2 field projects. He was also in charge of more than 10 transverse projects and participated in more than 20 lateral projects. He has won the third prize of the Guangdong Provincial Philosophy Social Sciences Award from 2007 to 2008.

3. Gui Ladan

Gui Ladan (1972), male, PhD, is an Associate Professor. He specializes in Regional Tourism Development and Countryside Tourism with a focus on Poverty Alleviation and Sustained Tourism. The courses he teaches mainly include Development of Tourism and Policy, Tourism Economics and the Strategy Management of Tourism Enterprises. He has many honorary titles such as Member of the National Regional Tourism Development Committee, and the Secretary of the Self-Driving Tourism Group of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics. Since 2000, he has published 1 book and is a co-author of 4 books.  He has published 20 papers in renowned magazines such as: China Soft Science, Economy, Science and Society and Research and Development.Besides, he also took part in and hosted more than 20 projects.


III. Scientific Research Projects and Achievements

All the research staff carried out 3 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation and Social Science Foundation, over 10 provincial projects and more than 60 projects commissioned by local government and enterprise; published five books, two software copyright and won 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes at the provincial level, as well as 6 bureau-level scientific research awards.
