Xu Wangjia

Xu Wangjia(1969-), born in Leiyang, Hunan Province in China, is a senior visiting scholar of University of Wisconsin-Madison and full professor of School of Humanities and Communications in Guangdong University of Finance of Economics.

Professor Xu received his Ph.D. in Chinese linguistics from Zhejiang University. He has long been interested in the study of ancient Chinese language. His current research interests include: 1) Annotation language in medieval Chinese; 2) the history of Chinese language study and the cultural circle of Chinese characters; 3) cognitive linguistics. 

He has been principal investigator of three provincial projects, authored over thirty academic papers, three monographs, and one Chinese language textbook, he is a recipient of a municipal award for excellence in research.
