2. A brief introduction of the course

Psychometrics introduces the major measuring methods used in psychological research, including the reliability and validity of the measurement, and methods to control random error and system error in measurement; It also introduces the difficulty of the test, the degree of distinction, and how to control the difficulty and to improve the degree of distinction; This paper introduces various kind of famous tests from which one should not only learn the compiling principles, but also require to master the method of application; Apart from introducing the classical measurement theory, this paper also introduces the promising item response theory and the generalizability theory and cognitive diagnosis theory. Psychometrics is an common compulsory and methodological course for Psychology major . the course systematically introduces the basic theories and technologies of psychometrics, and the establishment and application method of various kinds of influential psychological and educational test home and abroad. The general objective of the course is to cultivate students’ preliminary ability to do the pragmatic work and theoretical research ability related to Psychometrics. The specific training objective could be divided into 3 levels: first, know how to correctly use all sorts of psychological tests; Second, master the method of analyzing and evaluating the quality of psychological test from both qualitative and quantitative analysis; third, master the theory and method of scientifically  designing  and developing high quality psychological test.
