2. A brief introduction of the course

The course The Special Children's Psychology and Education is a branch discipline of developmental psychology, and also the research of abnormal psychology on special childhood problems. This course will also involves educational psychology, pedagogy theory and different aspects of special education considering special children's education. Based on the basic psychological theories of special children psychology and their education, The Special Children's Psychology and Education is an applied-oriented course, which trying to makes an exact description on the overt psychological characteristics of various types of special children, and put forward the corresponding teaching measures and methods of rehabilitation training. The general purpose of this curriculum is to let students form a further understanding on the general concept of "special children" and the socio-cultural background of the phenomenon, and such children’s mental and physical characteristics as well as focus the support they need; To cultivate  students’ necessary theoretical accomplishment and relevant professional skills; To improve students’ practical ability and provide some suitable educational and training measures for special children. Due to a variety of reasons, special children's mental activity and behavior have shown diversity and significant difference in the process of individual development. This special group thus constitutes a broad field of psychology research and application. In the time of  understanding the general normal psychological activities and behaviors of the mass, psychology professionals also need to know some paradoxical reactions of  the members of  the group.
