2. Brief Course Introduction

A History of Western Sociological Thought introduces the cultural heritage of Ancient Greece and Rome, the expansion of religious and imperial power, and the economic development in modern Western Europe which reveals political, economical, social and cultural factors contributing to change of western thinking. In one aspect, the class enriches individual understanding of social background and theory roots of these Western European classic sociologists, the other aspect is the student is guided  to think over the transition, started from the modern times, of knowledge system and political system in China.
