2. Brief Course Introduction

     This course is one of the requisite specialized basic courses for each specialty of Chinese Language and Literature. By introducing and discussing the dominant trends and changes of contemporary Chinese literature, it makes students have a relatively comprehensive knowledge of the writing conditions and development of the contemporary Chinese literature, improves their abilities to think and assess the contemporary Chinese literature and literary phenomena, and strives to promote the formation and enhancement of their social humanistic quality under the circumstance of contemporary Chinese literature and culture. This course tries to expound the basic form of literature under the circumstance of tense relationship between politics and aesthetics, describe the construction and formation of the Cultural Revolution literature under the circumstance of the contemporary politics and culture in China, reveal the profound changes brought by the reform and open up policy in the 1980s which enforced Chinese literature to absorb the modern thoughts and trends of the West, present the direction of literary innovation and the diversified pattern since the 1990s, and describe the transitional function of the contemporary Chinese literature under the circumstance of the contemporary Chinese society and culture.
