2. Brief Course Introduction

      The Reading course, one of the requisite Comprehensive Applied Course for Chinese Language and Literature majors, is arranged at the last two weeks of the third and fifth semesters. Reading ability is one of the core abilities for Chinese Language and Literature majors. The main content of reading includes the classics of literature, language, history, philosophy, society and natural science which relate to the courses for Chinese Language and Literature majors. Under the instruction of teachers, students will apply their knowledge, attainment and thinking abilities from their professional study to reading and writing reading reports which will be regarded as the index to assess the students. The aim of this course is to teach students reading methods, develop students’ reading habits and abilities, promote their reading base, expand their scale, and improve their reading abilities, and hence make them more proficient and reflective in their future major-related work. The course mainly includes topic selection, material collection, group discussion, teachers’ instruction and reading report writing.
