2. Brief Course Introduction

     Introduction to Linguistics is a discipline basic course for each specialty of Chinese Language and Literature. This course mainly teaches students the basic concepts and theories of theoretical linguistics, develops their abilities for thinking and doing research on language phenomena, and lays a theoretical foundation for their future study of some specific language and language teaching or language studies. The content of this course chiefly includes: the social function of language, the semiotic nature of language, phonetics and phonology, grammar, semantics and pragmatics, characters, language evolution, language contact and so on.
