2. Brief Course Introduction

    Applied Linguistics is a discipline basic course for each specialty of Chinese Language and Literature. It mainly teaches students the significance of studies on language application, the nature, scope and research method of applied linguistics, and the current situation of applied linguistics in China. Applied Linguistics and Introduction to Linguistics can coordinate with each other, since the former emphasizes on application while the later on theories. This course requires the combination of theories and practices. The main content includes: the nature and scope of applied linguistics, the research method of applied linguistics, the basic theories of applied linguistics, applied linguistics in China, its main sub disciplines, and some critical aspects related to the discipline construction of applied linguistics.
