    2. Brief Course Introduction

This course is a study of the behavior of the economy as a whole and the policy measures that the government uses to influence it. Macroeconomics study business cycle fluctuations and long - run economic growth. Topics include: measurement of national economic performance; problems of recession, unemployment, and inflation; money supply, government spending, and taxation; fiscal and monetary policies for full employment and price stability. Use of AD-AS models and IS-LM to explain short-run fluctuations, and looks further into the causes of costs, and tradeoffs between inflation and unemployment, adds international trade to the aggregate demand model; examines the frontiers of economics research.
