In September 2021, Guangdong University of Finance and Economics was approved as a new key construction discipline in the improvement plan (2021-2025) of Pushing for first-class, filling shortcomings and strengthening characteristics, which has the first-mover advantages in professional setting, platform building and team building. The university has established the School of Digital Economy and China Data Research Institute, and three research and innovation platforms in the field of digital economy in Guangdong Province: Guangdong Digital Economy Research Institute, Guangdong Key Laboratory of Finance and Taxation Big Data, and Big Data and Education Statistics Application Laboratory. It was approved the innovation team project of Guangdong general universities: the research team of high-quality development of digital economy, and also approved to build the specialty of digital economy and become the vice president of Guangdong Digital Economy Association. The construction of the key discipline system of digital economics of the university has been continuously improved, and has gradually become the starting point and focus of the university's future discipline construction bend.

The School of Digital Economy of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics is a special innovative school established by the university in response to the national major development strategy of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the development layout of frontier disciplines such as artificial intelligence and digital economy. The School has 2 teaching units, including Department of Intelligent Science and Department of Digital Economy and Management, and 4 undergraduate majors, including Computer Science and Technology, Big Data Management and Application, Data Science and Big Data Technology, and Digital Economy, etc. The first class of undergraduate students will be enrolled in 2021.

At present, the School of Digital Economy has four innovation platforms, including China Data Research Institute, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory Ecological, Environmental, Resource and Economic and Social System Collaborative Evolution Laboratory, Center for Mesoeconomics Research and Ocean Economy Research Institute. With the main body of multidisciplinary collaborative innovation, the path of faculty-laboratory platform-intercollegiate collaboration, and the foundation support of digital industrialization and data valorization, the college explores new modes of cross-fertilization of disciplines and deep integration of industry and education, and strives to become the highland of talent training, base of scientific and technological innovation and pioneer of decision-making services in the field of digital economy.

The college has a high starting point for development, with a high-level faculty team of 11 full-time teachers, including 6 professors and 4 associate professors. At the same time, relying on the three parent colleges, a double-span full-time faculty team of about 20 people is established. Meanwhile, a project team with Professor Xu Xianchun, former deputy director of the National Bureau of Statistics, as the chief expert and 6 young doctors from famous universities at home and abroad who are going through the induction procedures have been flexibly introduced, and the scale of the faculty of this discipline will reach nearly 50 in the future.

Based on the training of algorithm engineers, data engineers, software engineers and digital managers, the school is oriented to the major strategic needs of the country of accelerating digital development and building digital China, with multidisciplinary collaborative innovation as the main body, and the path of faculty-laboratory platform-inter-campus collaboration. With inter-college collaboration as the path, digital industrialization and data valorization as the basic support, the college explores the new mode of cross-fertilization of disciplines and deep integration of industry and education, and strives to become the highland of talent cultivation, science and technology innovation base and pioneer of decision-making services in the field of digital economy.

The college is making every effort to build the brand of Qinhu, and to unite the culture of Qinhu in academic forums, science and technology competitions, talent training, innovation and entrepreneurship, social services, etc., so as to add value to the inheritance of the characteristic culture of digital economy. Under the new mode of exploring cross-fertilization of disciplines and deep integration of industry and education, a pioneer of social service and decision making supported by faculty department, laboratory platform and inter-campus collaboration has been formed. Together with the Guangzhou branch of China Academy of Information and Communication Technology, we are preparing to establish the Guangdong Digital Economy Association, and our university has become the vice president unit. Meanwhile, continuing to play an important role in promoting our university as a top-ranking financial university in the Greater Bay Area, we are accelerating the establishment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Digital Economy Alliance in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macau City University, South China University of Technology and Jinan University. Over the past year, more than 10 reports related to the development of digital economy have been submitted to the national party committees and governments at all levels for decision-making and consultation, among which 5 reports, including Several Risk Points and Countermeasures Suggestions on the Construction of Data Security in the Province, The Current Situation, Domestic Experience and Policy Suggestions on the Development of Wisdom in Guangdong Science City and Opinions and Suggestions on the Development of Digital Economy in Tibet have been adopted by the relevant departments of the central government and the provincial government or approved by the main provincial leaders The reports have provided theoretical basis for the Party, State and provincial governments to make decisions on the development of digital economy. We have received 12 horizontal projects in the field of digital economy, with the accumulated amount reaching 1.69 million RMB.

In the future, the College will actively adapt to and lead new technologies, new industries, new industries and new modes, build a discipline system with digital knowledge and information as the key elements, artificial intelligence and digital technology as the core driving force, modern information and business network as the important carrier, and the deep integration of intelligence and digital technology and the real economy as the development direction, with digital, intelligent and networked industrial development and governance transformation mode with A discipline system with breakthrough innovation, and gradually establish a digital economy undergraduate, master's and doctoral high-end talent system supported by digital technology, in order to cultivate high-quality talents who can precisely match the needs of the region and industry.
