2. Brief Course Introduction
Advanced English I is a compulsory course in the first semester of the third year for junior English majors with the aim to further develop students’ integrated English language skills, especially their proficiency in advanced English reading. It is also designed to improve their English communication skills, expand their socio-cultural knowledge and enhance their socio-cultural awareness. By the time they complete the course, students are expected to deepen their understanding of socio-cultural connotations, textual organization, stylistic and rhetorical devices as well as aesthetic and ethic values.
