Shaopei CHEN currently works as an associate professor in the Regional Development and Geography Economy at the School of Public Policy and Management (PPM), Guangdong University of Finance and Economics (GDUFE). He holds a Ph.D. degree in environment science from the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (GIGCAS) in China on Jan. 2010. His Ph.D. study was also financed by the French Government Scholarship through the Embassy of France in Beijing from 2005 to 2008. In Oct. 2010, he also received a Ph.D in Information Processes  from the Naval Academy Research Institute (IRENav) and Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers (ENSAM) in France. The subject of his study is An Integrated GIS for Intelligent Transportation System. The thesis is aims to research multi-modal and multi-scale transportation GIS for favoring transportation planning, management and information services, thereby supporting sustainable urban transportation development. Currently, his research is oriented towards transportation network planning/accessibility, regional development, geographic economy and industrial restructuring based on geographical information science. Dr. Shaopei Chen's fields of  research are follows:

1. Multi-modal and multi-scale urban transport network modeling and multiple - path approach.
2. Spatio-temporal modeling approach for the evaluation of accessibility and connectivity in metropolitan networks.
3. Regional accessibility measures and spatial differences analysis oriented in industrial restructuring.

Dr. Shaopei Chen's teaching activities include several survey and mapping technologies, geography information sciences and computer aided design (CAD) courses. Moreover, he hosted and took part in several natural and social scientific funded projects. Since 2010, 12 of his papers were published in journals, including International Journal of Transport Geography , Journal of Applied Sciences, Chinese Journal of Human Geography and Journal of Progress in Geography.
