2. Course Introduction

Computer network course is a compulsory course for undergraduate students majoring in computer and other related fields. Computer network, being a new technology bordering computer technology and communication technology, is developing rapidly and widely applied in the information society. It occupies an important position in the overall computer science education. A good command of it can lay a solid foundation in the following course study of this major.

Computer network technology involves data communication, network theory, network standard agreements and many other related technologies. The major contents of this course include: computer network survey, network systematic structure and network agreement, physic layer, data chain layer, network layer, transmission layer, and application layer of computer network, network security and network management technology, etc. 

As this course combines theory and practice, certain amount of practical drill is required between learning network mechanism.
