2. Course Introduction
This lecture offers a broad overview of computer science designed to provide students with an appreciation for and an understanding of the many different aspects of computer science. Topics include basic concepts in hardware, operating systems, networks, graphics, and an overview of the social context of computing. No background in computer science is assumed or expected. The course is intended for both students who expect to major or minor in computer science as well as for those not planning on taking additional course work.
