History of Chinese Journalism is a fundamental specialty course opened for undergraduates majoring in journalism and it introduces systematically the development history of Chinese journalism from ancient to modern times. This course is designed to get the formation and development history of Chinese journalism across to students, then after the study of Chinese journalism experience and tradition they can master the basic discipline and feature of Chinese journalism spreading activities, thus improving the recognition of journalism and establishing a proper journalism conception, finally they can observe and analyze journalism communication activities in historical materialism theory and method.

This course,following the historical discipline of Chinese journalism development,elaborates journalism features,journalism evolution and journalism improvement in every period.The teaching contents are mainly divided in the following parts:1.Ancient official newspaper ,unofficial newspaper and Peking newspaper;The journalistic activities of Foreigner in modern China;2.The journalistic proposition and activities of modern Chinese; 3.The journalistic work after the founding of Chinese Communist Party ;4.The journalistic work in the KMT - CPC cooperation period;5.War of Resistance Against Japan;6.The journalism during the War of Liberation;7.The journalism development and journalism communication work since the founding of New China. 8.The journalistic career and work in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
