2. Course Description

    This course elaborates on how the definition we have for family is influenced by social and historic background of family movement; Then, it will analyze the role of family in the society and how personal choice is affected by social structure and cultural factors. The main chapters include: family categories and change, the paradigms and research methods of family sociology, social gender, mate choice, the foundation of a family, family relations, the balance between work and family, family functions, raising children, aging process in a family, family structure, domestic violence, family stress and crisis.
