2. Brief Course Introduction

    Research of social issues, as an essential part of the study of sociology, is an interdisciplinary subject which involves many sub-disciplines of sociology including social stratification & mobility, economic sociology, sociology of development, urban sociology. This course not only introduces students to basic concepts and typology of social problems, but also delivers series of lectures on social issues in modern China. It aims to attract students’ attention on social issues, as well as to  develop their capabilities in scientific analysis of social issues and applying theories and methods to solve social problems. This course will focus on encouraging students to apply their theoretical knowledge to the study of concrete issues.
