Introduction to Literature is one of the basic courses for Chinese Language and Literature majors. Before taking the course, students need to know some literary works of all times and all countries, and some basic literary knowledge. Then they can carry on the theoretical study. Through the study of this course, students should primarily understand and systematically grasp the basic viewpoints and knowledge of literature as well as major concepts and categories of literary theories. Besides, students should learn to apply Marxist standpoint, viewpoint and method, have some ability to analyze literary works, get improved in terms of comprehensive humanistic qualities, and have the ability to properly analyze various literary phenomena of all times and all countries. It will primarily lay a theoretical foundation for students to learn other literary courses, and carry on literary practices as well as occupations of language teaching and cultural education.
