“Programme Criticism” is a comprehensive application course for the freshmen of Broadcasting and Hosting Major, which aims at helping students understand the hosts’ performance in broadcasting and TV programs. To acquire basic knowledge, students learn how to speak and perform as a host through self-studies and group discussions of typical cases. Based on the theories acquired, students gain deeper understanding by doing research and writing reports. This course enables students to form a habit of studying typical hosting cases, and teach them how to rate art, news communication and other related subjects. It allows students to appreciate broadcasting and communication in various aspects: media means, program style, hosts’ characteristics, and language art, which, in short, is a combination of basic knowledge and practice.
