2. Brief Course Introduction

   This course introduces comprehensively the origin, development and research of Communication. Based on history and current situation of Communication, it introduces the basic theories and points of view on Communication from the perspective of Communicators, recipients, medium, information, semiotics, communicating process, communication category, communication environment, communication skills, communicating effect, and methods of research on Communication, and so on. It helps students to apply theories to practice, and to know current condition of media through case analyses, observing media, and social investigations. On completing this course, students are able to have better analytic ability, understanding and critical thinking, to master necessary communication rules and skills, and to improve their planning skills. It also helps students to broaden and deepen their thinking.
