2. Brief Course Introduction

“Retailing” is one of the earliest opened courses for Business Administration Program in Guangdong University of Finance and Economics. Guangdong University of Finance and Economics was also among the earliest colleges that set up the course “Retailing”. Through the course we have trained a large number of professionals for the commercial circulation industry in China, which is a very popular course in the society. “Retailing” also commendably reflects the characteristics of business management major in Guangdong University of Finance and Economics. This course includes three sections: retailing introduction, retailing strategy and organization, and retailing business management. It presents the history and current development of domestic and foreign retailing industry, the features and development of main retailing formats, expansion and competition strategy of retail business, as well as the commodity management, price management, promotion management and other business management theory in retail business. Under the leadership of Professor Xiao Yi, this course has been constructed to be a provincial-high-level course, and it’s supporting materials “Retailing” has been voted as General higher education "five eleven" national planning textbook. The teaching methods of “Retailing” course is various, including computer experiment teaching, case teaching, research teaching, multimedia teaching, extracurricular teaching, online teaching, and so on, by which the course is enriched in teaching resources and improved in teaching level.
