Goethe-Institute is a German equivalent of the Confucius Institute, it was founded in Munich in 1951. It’s an institute for engaging in culture exchange over the world operated by the Federal Republic of Germany. It’s responsible for promoting teaching German in foreign countries and engagement in international culture cooperation. The Goethe-Institute’s organization comprises of Goethe-Institute, Goethe Language Center, Reading Room, Examination Center and Language Learning Center. As a department of Goethe-Institute, the main role of the Goethe Language Center is providing German training and German language examinations.
In November 10, 2015, Guangdong University of Finance & Economics (GUFE) has officially signed the cooperation agreement with the Goethe-Institute (China) to establish “Guangdong University of Finance & Economics- Goethe Language Center”. This center is the eighth center in China and the first center in Southern China. As the professional consultant in German language, Goethe-Institute will provide massive support and experience on German teaching, teacher training, curriculum design and textbook development. The center is now conducting preparations, and it is expected to open for enrollment in April or May 2016.
