School of Greater Bay Area Film and Television Industry

The predecessor of the School of Greater Bay Area Film and Television Industry was the School of Culture, Creativity and Tourism jointly established by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, the Foshan Municipal People's Government, Sanshui District People's Government, and Guangdong University of Finance and Economics in May 2017. In July 2020, in order to cooperate with Foshan City in building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film and Television Industry Cooperation Pilot Zone, Guangdong University of Finance and Economics and the Foshan Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department has built our institute together on the foundation of School of Culture, Creativity and Tourism. The school has officially changed its name to School of Greater Bay Area Film and Television Industry in July 2021. Since its establishment, the institute has achieved fruitful results in personnel training, scientific research, and social services. The school has been awarded titles of Bay Area Film and Television Innovation and Research Center by the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art, and the title of Guangdong Literature and Art Critic Base by the Guangdong Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

The school is located in Sanshui District, Foshan City, with a beautiful environment of Yundonghai Tourism Zone. At present, the school offers complete subject categories in both undergraduate and graduate level, including majors of Digital Media Art, Advertising, Animation, Radio and Television Directing, Drama and Film Literature, and Broadcasting and Hosting Art. The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program offers directions in Film and Television Creation, Film and Television Production, Film and Television Management, and Hosting Performances. With a well-established talent training system, the school is designed to cultivate innovative talents and better deliver them into areas like pre-production, mid-production, and post-production of the film and television industry.

The school values practices. Our faculty team consists of high-qualified professors, associate professors and industry experts, with strong strengths in both teaching and researching. Most of the existing instructors came from top schools in the industry such as Communication University of China and Shanghai Theater Academy. Meanwhilethe school has invited multiple industry leaders as visiting professors, in particular, Zhang Qian, the producer of Wolf Warrior; Li Anlei, famous recording engineer who won the Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Award; and Shi Yanfeng, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Guangdong TV and the founder of the Southern Documentary.

The teaching conditions of the school are excellent. The newly built experimental building is equipped with digital creative workshops, multi-functional studios, comprehensive exhibition rooms, film and television recording studios, and digital film projection rooms etc. Other teaching places are furnished with 4K cameras, drones, motion capture systems, and post-production workstations. The school has also established long-term cooperative relations with Guangdong Radio and TV Station, Guangdong Provincial Theater, Ali Films, Country Garden Group and other corporations, to ensure providing good conditions of internships and career opportunities for students.

The school strives in becoming a first-class film and television academy in the Bay Area, adheres to the running orientation of Based on Guangdong, Serves the Bay Area, and Face the World, along with the philosophy of Integration of Production and Education, Integration of Production and Innovation, and Integration of Production and Research, and fights for the aim of transporting high-end film and television talents and providing intellectual support for the Bay Area.
