School of Public Administration was established on March 11, 2008, based on merger of two departments- Department of Administration Management and Public Administration- within the School of Finance and Taxation & Public Administration. The school has several teaching and research centers and institutes like six departments, one MPA degree authorization center, one provincial experimental teaching center, one provincial professional comprehensive reform center, and two provincial college student practice teaching bases. The school also has one key University subject, one special program at University level, and four off - campus teaching bases. The school has 54 faculty members, including 32 doctors, 16 candidates taking part in the Guangdong Talents Cultivation Program, one expert receiving the State Council's special allowance, and several teachers with international education background. The school has training and educational talents of high quality from all over the country, and has invited more than 30 experts and government leaders as visiting scholars both from China and abroad. The school boasts 1678 undergraduate students and 38 MPA graduate students. In recent years the school has gained fruitful teaching and research achievements, including 16 principal investigators at a national and provincial or ministerial level, 26 projects at a bureau level, publishing 551 teaching and research papers (including 283 papers in core journals and 27 academic works (including 19 monographs).
The school aims at building a key quality base for training and educating talents with a deep understanding of the needs of society and economy, especially the needs of the Pearl River Delta. The school has a reputation for well-trained undergraduates who are deeply welcomed by employing units has high employment rate.
