Our school was founded in July 1986, and its original name is Department of Public Finance and Taxation. In 1987, its name changed to Department of Taxation because of the joint contribution from Guangdong Administration of Taxation at that time. In 2002 and 2008, our school has changed its name again and in the April of 2013, it was finally called the School of Public Finance and Taxation.
Till July 2015, our school has 54 staff members, and 42 of them are full-time teachers. There are 7 full professors, 18 associate professors, who account for 59.5% of our total number of the teaching staff. There are 27 doctors, 3 post-doctors and a doctor candidate, who account for 64.3% of our total number of the teaching staff.
There are 4 departments in our school, including Public Finance, Taxation, Asset Evaluation and Information Management Lab of Finance and Taxation. The Public Finance is the priority discipline in our province and we are granted the postgraduate programs of Public Finance and Taxation . We co-build the Public Finance major with the Guangdong Provincial Department of Finance, co-build the Research Center of Taxation Service with Guangdong Local Taxation Bureau and Guangdong National Taxation Bureau and co-build the Research Center of Finance and Taxation Information Management with the related bureaus. Additionally, we have two significant projects which are supported by the central government, including the innovation team project for financial theory and policy research, and the innovation platform for public finance research. We have also built up several research centers for government procurement, nonprofit organizations, and asset evaluation.
Our school has four bachelor programs, including Public Finance, Taxation, Asset Evaluation and Taxation (for certified tax agent). The Public Finance is granted as a feature program in China, and honored as an excellent program in Guangdong. Additionally, the Taxation program is granted the demonstration base for talents training in Guangdong province. Furthermore, the construction of Assets Evaluation Program is supported by the association and other agencies. And now there are 1700 full-time undergraduate students in our school.
