Teaching Objectives
For the characteristics of graduates knowledge background and ability, this course intensively instructs theoretical paradigms and research methods of political science with the help of classic case analysis around the actual situation of China's reform and development, which guides the students to use the empirical analysis and normative research flexibly to analyze specific problems of international and civil political practice on the basis of trying to understand and mastering the basic concepts and principles of political science.
Through the study of this course, students are expected to
1.mastering the basic concepts basic principles and basic paradigms of political science
2.analyzing and refining the hidden political logic through the sophisticated phenomenon in practice;
3.offer countermeasures and suggestions in theory and practice for specific political problems ;
Teaching Contents
This course introduces the basic principles and the basic paradigms of political science which uses the method of empirical analysis and normative research to solve problems in the political practice. The content of this course includes the nature and the core problem of the politics, research methods and subject characteristics of political science, national and supranational politics, the setting of modern government, armed forces, along with the nature, the function and the classification of ideology, political culture and social capital, communication and participation in politics, political parties and political party system, interest groups, the political rights and governance in the development of system of political parties, as well as the problems of democracy and democratization.
