It aims at introducing the history of translation, schools of translation studies and translation theories in the West and China, acquaint students with a systematic view on translation studies with respect to the name and nature of TS and interpreting, core views of all types of schools, approaches, and turns in TS, with focus on their merits and demerits, and approaches and ways to interpret various kinds of translation activities.

Teaching Contents
|
This course is designed mainly to introduce schools of translation studies and their core views on translation activities in the West and China, including the history of translation, methodology, and linguistic approach to translation studies, functional approach, systematic and norm approach, cultural approach, postcolonial approach, feminist approach, philosophical approach, interdisciplinary approach to TS, and comparison of the Western and Chinas translation studies.
