School of Law

School of Law was founded and started to enroll undergraduate students in 1993. Our 95 Faculty members,81 of which are teaching staff, and 48 of which hold PhD degree, demonstrate a wide-range of professional experience in almost every aspect of Chinese law and its history, international law, legal philosophy and criminology, and engage themselves intensively in influential social events and legal community. Now the school boasts 28 professors and 63 associate and assistant professors. Over 15 teachers were funded by “Thousand-Hundred-Ten” Talents Cultivation Program of Guangdong Province, among which there are one distinctive teacher of Guangdong Province and three distinctive teachers of GDUFE. Forty-five Faculty members also serve regularly as deputies of the local people's congress at different levels, members of the Guangdong Committee of C.P.C, legal consultants and think-tanks for the legislators and civil services. 

The School of  Law is strongly committed to provide our students essential knowledge in law and vocational training by offering upper-level courses in wide variety of subjects, including Constitutional and Administrative Law (Guangdong Leading Academic Discipline Project), and Procedural Law (Guangdong Leading Academic Discipline Funding). Several subjects of the Law School received the “First Class Research Funds of GDUFE”. The Institute of Law and Economics that is part of the School, has been supported and funded by Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences Project of Guangdong Province. 

Four degrees are awarded in Law, the BA, LL.B, LL.M (academic master degree programs), and J.M (Juris Master, professional master degree programs). There are LLB. in Law, LL.B in Public Security(Police Management), LL.M in Jurisprudence, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Economic Law, Procedural Law and International Law, and J.M which began to  enroll  part-time students in 2008. 

Ever since 2002, the School of Law has been noticed and established itself as one of the most prestigious law schools in the Guangdong Province and China. In 2008, Constitutional Law won the prize of “Top Quality Course of Guangdong”. In 2010, the Experimental Center in Law focusing on legal professional training became well-known and gained reputation among universities in Guangdong. The School was among the first group of law schools in China, being designated by the Ministry of Education and Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs, as the “Education Base for Outstanding Talents in Law”-a government honor bestowed upon China’s finest institutions. 

The School is the largest in Guangdong and has 1820 full-time undergraduate students and 389 post-graduate students. Over the past decade, the  School has cultivated and trained 5922 graduates who played an active role in our society. Our graduates are prominent in the legal field and the judiciary and civil service. Many of our graduates found positions in China Supreme People’s Court, Higher People’s Court, Provincial People's Procuratorate and in  legal departments. 

Our teachers have published widely and productively papers across every aspect of law and social science, in nearly one thousand journals (including Chinese Journal of Law and China Legal Science) and 40 books since 2007. Our Faculty members are assigned 150 key research projects in academic and education, including 4 National Research Foundation projects, and 90 Provincial Research Foundation Projects. Many of these  projects received awards and funding from Guangdong Providence, the local government, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Education.
